Hey there … welcome, glad you came.

Now for the ubiquitous description of myself…. Physically I am doing good for my age but I am a little overweight. That is probably because I am in a great relationship with a wonderful man for seventeen years now.  I am an optimist for the most part.  Life has kicked me around but I am still able to count to ten, get back up, dust myself off and start again.  I consider myself a private person.  However most that know me think that is not true.  I think the disconnect comes from growing up gay in a small Montana town in the 70s. I just wanted to hide everything about me, just to blend into the background and disappear. That never seemed to happen people still seemed to notice me. I wasn’t  very good at blending into the background but I thought I was as only a teenager can.

My education was in art.  I started out as a physiology major  but soon started to have more art classes on my schedule and well I think you can see where that went. So I have a BFA at the University of Montana and a MFA at the University of Washington.  And now I am back studying Web design and development at SCCC.

I am not sure what else I should add to this page.  In fact I am wondering if I shouldn’t take some of what is here off the page.  There is a lot of talk in various classes about how to present yourself for jobs and what you need to do and not do.  This whole site started out being a class project in fact for understanding and creating and theme in wordpress.  And if this is work product for me as an example of being able to use wordpress should I have fairly personal information on this site.  Plus even if I didn’t use this site as an example a simple search will bring it up(once I unblock the search engines). Personal information available for all on the web.  If I was hiring I would at least think about doing a search on someone.  Although that does seem like a big moral dilemma for today’s world doesn’t it?  What is the point between employers needing to protect their business and a person’s privacy? Can you say sidetracked?….Where was I ?

So here I am making a personal blog just like a large part of the population and wondering if I should be more private and not have a visible presence.  I’ve come a long way, baby.

Oh and about the name of this site, I also really love to cook and to learn how to cook new things. It is a nickname that my hubby gave me a few years back when we got a  Viking stove for the old electric that stopped working.  He teases me that I loved the viking more than him.  Of course that is not true, well……..
