What the ….

What has happened with Christians in the last decade. The way the more vocal and  visible ones behave  make me stutter in shock. It is a fact that I grew up in a very fundamentalist church at the same time I was discovering that I was gay. That was my teenage years, oil and water with no emulsification.

Back then the hard-line Christians had about the same view on abortion and homosexuality as now but with a big difference. They did not think that everyone else had to hold to theirs as well. But now they need to dictate their beliefs to all and if anyone else doesn’t like it tough; that is un-american. But it doesn’t stop there anymore they also hate poverty, taking care of the elderly, other belief systems, healthcare. Healthcare how is that even possible.

One thing I do remember from church as a child is that we are to take care of our fellow-man. Jesus took care of the poor and sick and did not make millions doing it. In fact, quoting the bible ….” It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” I am not saying that you should follow the bible verbatim; I think that there is room for interpretation and acknowledgment for modern norms. But for a group of people who insist we should follow their interpretation of the  bible’s teaching strictly on homosexuality they seem very inconsistent with their other views. I will add with a quote from the bible but let me add this it took a while to choose this quote not because it was hard to find but because there are so many to choose. …….For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’  Deuteronomy 15:11…….

So you don’t like what about the new affordable healthcare act? Is it that women’s health issues are getting funded. Is it that all citizens will get health care? Or is it that it happened from our first black president and your leaders are racist pricks?

Looking back over this post it looks a religious homily to me. That was not the intent. My reason for writing about the subject is not to shame Christians about their leaders inconsistencies. But to say get the hell out of my life and needs. You live in a country where all its citizen are treated equally, even if sometimes we have to state it explicitly in laws.

I know that the pat response is that my beliefs are held as important are yours.  You live your life and I will live mine. That is how I used to think also until the crazy happened in gay marriage. All these bakers and photographers and bed and breakfast owners that are screaming at the top of their lungs that they are denied their religious freedom by having to do the job they have. We live in a county and that county has law that enable us to all live together peacefully. (God I  feel like a bad civics lesson) But having the right to religious freedom does give you the right to opt out of other laws.  Being a Christian doesn’t give you an automatic get of jail card. Muslims can’t do that with their religious beliefs.

I am so tired of hearing from Christians that this is the way the country should be; if you don’t like it move. Shouldn’t that be the other way around. You have created such places in Africa and it turns out that the new Russian gay propagation laws come from help of Brian Brown and NOM. It all just gets so tiring.

Dishwashers and beds and couches

I think our house has a curse when it comes to dishwashers. It seems like we can never keep one going for longer than a couple of years and then it just goes kaplooie.  This time one of the hoses sprung a leak and the water just came gushing out.  Mitch tried to fix it by pulling it out and looking but it took Andrew to get it all pulled apart and to see what the issue was beside the hole in the drain tube.  The whole under pipes are clogged with a gray looking sludge.  Makes you think— wow that was how our dishes were getting clean. So now we have to find some old discontinued parts or get a new dishwasher.

About the same time the water-bed that we used sprang a leak.  It is next to impossible to get a new water-bed these days.  So time to get a new bed also.  All i can say about that is: Why are bed salespeople so creepy? why?

We are thinking after trying out so many beds that we want the one that has coils under a layer of the foam that is like that foam used in the temperpedic  beds.

And also we have put off buying a couch for a year or so.  Annie when she was less than a year old got left alone for a while and found a loose string in the couch and took after it.  Foam was everywhere.  I re-stuffed  and sewed it back together but it is falling apart.  So new couch here we come.

What I live with

Here I was working on this thing here, this blog.  Doing what I needed to do for the assignment that is due.  But also thinking about what, why and how I want this site to look like so that it will have a usefulness after this class.  In fact I am now thinking that I need to change some pages.  I need to do some research into word press. I want to know how to get post to show up on other pages or why have other pages at all and not just a big long page of posts.

So I walkout and say to Mitch and Andrew that I just need to get a post made and I think that I have the assignment done.  But I don’t know what to post about, am still thinking structure and content.  This is the responses I get.  Well what kind of post do you need? We have several downstairs 4×4, 2×6, 2×4…… And….. I am sure we still have stamps in the office.

Yes this is what I live with everyday.
