For the new year…..

I am going to try this blog idea.  So I am going to try to post somewhat daily.  This somewhat scares me as I am sure I don’t have that much to write about.  Then again to be honest one of my classes this quarter is requiring a blog post for once a week.  So  that will keep me going.

Speaking of classes this quarter I haven’t  decided but I may be in for a rough time of it.  I am taking an intro to databases, intro to programing dealing with c# , the class that wants a blog post– itc 280 which is a combination of web databases and php, and to get a certification requirement out-of-the-way a 1 credit class of beginning programing – javascript.  The javascript is just review since I have taken the full quarter class already.   I figure any extra programing lectures are going to help me.  The rest is a lot of programing languages is learn.  Totally alien to what I have done in past.  But you know what, it is exciting and fun.  For years I have looked at this “the under the hood part” and have wanted to know more.  So I suppose now I should get to my homework a little javascript, a lot of reading and a couple of take home tests.

A little explanation

If you have taken a look at my navigation above you will see two links bio and final.  First they don’t seem to make sense in the nav structure but also if you click on them it seem like you are in a different site.  Well you would be right, sort of.  They are the last class assignments for other classes I took this quarter, typography and Photoshop.  They will eventually move to a lower part of the nav structure following fall classes but for now they need to stay where they are.  You see I thought I could just add a folder to my domain on my server and link to said folder and then turn in the assignments links.  Now that worked for the new folders but it broke all the navigation on the WordPress part of the site.  It really confused the .ht access file.  Plug-ins to the rescue, I found one that added non WordPress pages to the site called page links to. It works.  Yea!!!

Snow Days and Thanksgiving

As you all know it snowed in Seattle last week.  It put a kink in planning thanksgiving dinner.  I did not get to go to the market downtown for the last minute items that I was going to pick up.  So a couple of items were dropped or changed in the menu I planned for T-day.  Luckily I did pick up charcoal for the turkey before I came home on  Monday.  That leads me to school and  snow, I went into class on Monday to find out that they were closing the school at 2:00 in the afternoon.  My  first class starts at 1:00  so it was kind of a bust for me.  Then for the rest of the week there was no classes for me.  That was a mixed blessing.  It helped me in having lots of time to make the meal, Tuesday – dinner rolls, Wednesday -  the pies, brineing the turkey, and other prep work.  But I didn’t do a thing for school.  All that time and I didn’t get ahead of the class work.  Oh well, Thanksgiving was good and I did have a lot of fun making the meal.  If you want to find out what I made check out my food page.
