What I did between Summer and Fall Quarters part two

So what do you do with a room in this state? You start to put it back together and find out that no matter how you think it is going to work, it will be different.

At the end of this post there will be a gallery showing the various steps in the project………….

Demo and Rebuilding

Well I thought that all we would have to do is get down to the studs and then just put it back together easypeasie, done and done.  Do you know there is something called remodeling creep.  That is when in the process of doing something in the remodel more problems appear than were expected.  For us it was that we wanted the floor insulated which in turn raised the floor, that raised the door to the outside.  That meant we had to cut the siding.   Now we are down to just just the outside sheathing on our house, Yea!  Well we can now see that years ago there was water damage and the sheathing needs to be replace as well as some of the siding that is in really bad shape.  So now we are down to bare studs on the outside of our house, yea!  Remodeling creep

Well so we get the sheathing back on, insulation in , electrical and plumbing done, the Sheetrock up and muddied.  We are ready to start the tiling.

The Tiling

You see the thing is  none of us have ever done tiling before.  Had we watched it being done, read about doing it, meditated on being one with tiling, all yes.  Actually doing it, no.  Thank god for you tube and the people that need to put up how to  videos on how to tile.  Plus the kind people at Tile for Less for their advice and help. Here is an example of one of the video that helped us alot.

Painting and Moving Back In

So after the tiling we painted and moved the appliances back into the room.

So we have a warm room to do our laundry in again and only a few weeks later than we thought to have it done.  And to be fair it is still not completely done, we have to do shelves and trim but hey we can have clean clothes again.

here is a the gallery of the progression of the work.
